Maryland All-State Information
The website with all of the details regarding All-State auditions can be found here: https://www.mdmea.org/all-state-auditions. This email provides a summary of that information for your convenience.
Maryland All-State is an optional extracurricular activity, and participation will not affect a student’s grade in their music class. However, we strongly encourage students to prepare and consider auditioning, as it is a valuable experience.
Students who are successful in their auditions and accepted into All-State ensembles typically have been playing their instrument (or singing) for several years, perform at a high level, and dedicate time to practicing at home. Many also take private lessons. It’s important to note that the student must take ownership of the audition process, including preparation and adhering to the fee payment schedule. About 90% of the responsibility lies with the student. While we mention All-State in class and post information on Schoology, we do not focus on it as much as BCPS All-County auditions due to the level of difficulty involved.
